people who don't know when to shut up

i think everyone has had this problem where u have a person who is talking to u, they go on and on about pointless stuff and it drives u insane. 10 minutes after they started u want to punch though there rib cage and tear out there heart. u think well maybe i'll walk away, so u begin to walk but they follow and continue to talk. so it finally comes don't to should i hurt his or her feelings by saying (shut the hell up u cause a great annoyance) or just say i have to go i'll see u later and pray u don't see them again. and lets say u hurt there feelings but didn't mean to so u r not on there hate list and they try to annoy u intentionally. don't u just hate people like that

That's pretty much what I go through every single day. Even with my co-workers, one guy just explains every detail of his life to me, and I have to be the one to hear it all. I say two words, and 50 words are replied.

Customers are like that too, some of them. They want to buy something, and instead they start talking about things that have no relation to what they're buying. They treat us (the sellers), like their personal friends, where infact we just want them to buy, and leave quickly. We got more interesting things to do than sit here and listen to some stranger talk about their life. There are a lot of cases like that.

Some people, they just speak their thoughts to me. "I want to do this, and that, and this, and that....." with a grin on their face. Then I think to myself, "I ....don't......CARE! Get to your point!". Or when they start complaining about problems that have no relation to us. That's especially true with customers I meet on a regular basis.

Well, it happens.

Just smile and nod, and pretend you're interested.
OR
tell them to bugger off.

When you do it for a living, smiling and nodding is the primary choice, since you want them to come back.
