i know the feeling. it seems like whenever i express my hatred of pop, im swarmed by an abercrombie tornado and people calling me a "goth". isnt that pleasant, school is a natural personality suppressant. britney spears, in my opinion, dresses like a skank and has no talent, she sings thru her nose! uck! you may wanna kill me for saying so, but i personally think christina aguilera has talent, she has such a strong voice, she just dresses kinda...yeah. but those boybands and britney, gag.

I like music like Tool and Stabbing Westward and Bush and Green Day and shit like that. I hate pop and country and anything that isn't punk, alternitive rock/punk, hard rock, rock, classic rock, and classical.

To me, a lot of music sounds the same. I don't about anyone else, but, music is getting really bad. Sure you can find bands and solo artists here and there that actually have talent, but they are far between each other. A lot of singers like to sing about what everyone else is singing about. Back in high school several years ago I used to listen to rap, but now I dont cuz all that is sung about is hoes, killin' people, and how high or drunk they got the night before. And pop in the states, well, I just hope it goes as good as disco is doin' now. I listen to some pop but its mostly japanese or somewhere along those lines, I'll listen to some purely instrunmental stuff revolving around the guitar, which is just a kickin instrument in general.

I actually agree with you Seig on Christina Aguilera though. She really does have a great voice, but the way she looks like now, yea. Personally I think she just trying to prove to everyone that she is not an innocent as everyone think she is, but hey if she wants everyone to think she trashy, go ahead, just dont get mad when people say that you are. And britney just gets on by her looks, but a chest and a rear end can only take you so far in the music industry. I wonder how long it will take before she gets fat? Then it will be interesting how many people buy her music.

Sorry for bein gone so long, had a lot of personal life-changing issues going on in my life right now. But im back for the moment.

you're right, music does sound pretty much the same these days. everything is overplayed as well. thats why its good to stick with nonames or unsigned. check out this site: www.epitonic.com (http://www.epitonic.com) it has hundreds of signed and unsigned bands with sick music, you can download whole tracks and burn em to a cd, and the best part - its legal!
nice to see you again animaniac, i hope you resolve whatever's going on. ;)

Hey valcrist, dont keep being like this. It dont do you any favours

No, music is sounding the same. It is always same stuff over here. But, as you have said before, occasionaly there are a few good talents.

I agree, Christina Aguilera has talent. At least she can sing. Not like half of the bands/solo artists today.

*takes two steps back* Sorry about that.... Just that one idiot pissed me off yesterday....

Now on the topic of music. I try to listen to several types of music that have one or two things in common. Like the darker half of the music world which would be Rammstein and Stabbing Westward. And also the depressing music that sounds happy and upbeat like Blink-182 and All-American Rejects and Green Day has some songs that are like that too.

Musically I do like a few newer bands coming about such as 3 Doors Down and some other decent rock bands, but yes music does seem to be just sounding the same. 3 Doors Down reminds me a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd in a lot of ways. I'm personally a very big fan of music and there is hardly a time that anyone will find music not playing in my house. I'm not really into listening to a lot of the newer music because most of it is just the same as was done 10 years ago, and 10x worse. But I'm always open to new bands and new music just depending on how much I like the music.

And to just say this about Blink 182, they are a 3 cord band, I do own their CDs but they play about the same 3 notes in a song. I like Boxcar Racer a lot more then I like Blink simply because Boxcar has song variety insted of the same thing over and over again.

As to music I really hate, well about the general genre of music I hate I don't even classify it as music more like sound polution, would have to include a vast majoryity of "pop music". I'm not a really big fan of rap, but I have no problem with it and I will listen to it a bit, those people who like rock music and say "rap is crap" or something like that should really open their eyes and see that the rap beat evolved from rock bands messing with synths and other new musical toys that came around in the 80s'.

well, i agree with Val on his "double post stance.

on to topic time, i'm going to be getting a band togetehr with some of my friends in teh next few years, and i'm already writing songs, but eth thing is, we have no clue what we're going to sound like, so it'll eb interesting. i think teh importance of music is twofold; 1) a message must be conveyed, even if it's just to say that eth song has no point you are still amking a point. 2) musical popularity is very dependent upon eth time period. if teh beatles started singing today,m they soudl not ahve teh same impact astehy did back in teh 60's. if Nickelback were singing back in the 50's, it woudl not be so popular.

to say yuo ahte pop music is to say that you hate teh Popular music of the era, whch menas yu don't liek teh prevailing trend taht the money making people do. hell, there is no "pop" genre, everything being sold today is pop, just that some groups are more popular, and make more money than others.

I don't care who calls me a goth. i really don't. I like the Ramones, Evanescence, Some good charlette, System of a Down, 3 doors down, Lynkin Park, Korn, and a little Nickleback. However, I despise pop. Britney Spears is a lttle slut and she practically brodcats it all over TV. I wish i had a knife.... :D

Yay! Its good to hear that people out there actually do accept individualism! I kinda dress like a Goth too. :D Anyway, wanna know who else i think should die....Justin Timberlake! Who the hell is this guy? He's an ex-backstreet boy (aka the most disgusting group of guy singers ever) He dated Briteny, and then he didn't, and then he did, and then he didn't and them the little slut got married for 12 hours and is proably dating Justin again. All i ask is that you KEEP THE SAME BOYFRIEND FOR MORE THE 10 SECONDS PLEASE!

Oh....he was in Nsync....oh well they're all the same to me. I never was never into any of their music anway so screw it. :D Now on a lighter note I rescently bought the FLCL soundtrack. YAY!

Weither or not you're into the series it's definitly worth every penny. Awsome Japanese Hard Rock! Only 3 of the songs on the entire 21 song album are not rock. This is really a new thing for me because..well....I've never had any inclination to own any anime music. It was on sale for 9.98 so I bought it just to check it out. It's excellent escpecially the songs advice, CARNIVAL, Runners High, Instant Music, Stalker goes to Babylon, Hybrid Rainbow, Sleepy head, and, of course, Little Busters

anime ost's are typically eitehr good, bad, or abysmal. i loved the Mononoke osts because it was all instruemntal. i loved teh Bubblegum Crisis 2040 ost's beacsue tehy're a combination of rock & 80's techno, not to mentin taht tehvoice actress who played Priss is one fo eth lead singers onn teh albums. then there are ones liek the 2nd FLCL ost whcih i thougt was ok, but not teh greates; i'm not too big a fan of drama/music discs, the whole lack of understanding of japanese thing being my major issue.
i've got a huge huge collection of anime ost's, if yu want, just PM me, and i'll tell you how to get them.

neo i think it was like that in the japanese version too, i could be wrong tho... anyway! me*, i can understand your hatred of satanic music, the screaming and whining just gets to me as well, but some satanic music is really nice actually. if you've not heard of the band HIM i recommend you download one of their songs or buy a cd, theyre SOOOOOO beautiful. and they dont scream like fking castrated raccoons lol but yeah, for the most part, satanic music is pretty annoying.

I think I lost all respect for that sort of stuff when I listened to a CD from a little unkown band called "Nukeular Angel" OMG! It was a mix of Satanic and elevator music!

I like heavy Metal Midis. Anytime there is singing it gets either too hateful or too sappy.
Only other band I can think of that I like is The Beastie Boys.

heh, all the darkness bashing... i personally am going to be starting up a band over tehnext little while with myself and a few freinds where we will be having a very dark sound. i think that sometimes yuo need to be dark and demonic to get out everything yuo have within you. - or at least, that's what my writings say. - whenever i try to write in a happy mood i can't, i have to have them turn dark obn me. i enjoy darkness alot, it doesn't lead to teh whole "stabby stabby" that a lot of people say it does.

and just out of curiosuity, anyone here ver listen to gospel? the thing i notice teh most about it is that it is supposed to be ra5ther quite happy and cheery, but is all about death, and is really quite depressing if you listn to teh words and tehir meaninings underneath.

just my two cents.

I didnt mean tol bash heavy metal I just think some artist need to realize what theyre writing b4 releasing it. Like in the 80's there was this band my uncle told me about. I dont remember the name but thats not my point, they made EXTREMELY satanic lyrics but they actually went to church x_X I could be wrong but I believe they started that whole satan is kewl trend. (oh cool my rank went up :D )

well, as far as going to church yet writing satanic lyrics, i personally am christian, yet a great deal of eth songs i write have lines in them, or overtones that question rleigion and ask "will teh man in white really be a man in black?" just because yuo folow a certian path pblicly in one circle doens't mena yuo must follow it in all circles. I'm remionded of teh Robertson davies quote from 5th Business, "i need a god who can teach me how to grow old." sometimes teh old man's god is much more forgiving than teh yuong man's saviour.

I think MTV, Punks wearing trucker hats, Skaters staying inside all the time, and the goverment playing religious rock are all examples of disgraces to fine music. Im not a pro, I wouldnt even call myself a rocker, I only hope one day ill get enough cash to buy a guitar, but I can honestly say there arnet very many true rockers left. Same gos for goths, even preps.... Everyone is a bunch of posers nowadays so I just go with whatever music sounds good. They can say my style sucks, I dont watch good shows, and im not christian so im a satan worshipper x_x (that part is totally true u wouldnt believe these ppl) and all I can say is, you think ur a rocker, u dont play guitar, u have no band experience, and all u think is rock is just about actin like a bitch.
