bit of bacjground. i am a telemarketer. i dial peoples numbers, talk to them and conduct shotrt "Health Analysis" surveys with them in a little orange room with three other women four four hours every single day.

usually its not bad, but the other day we just started calling Port Hope Ontario. out of teh list of about 60 manes i call in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, only arond 10 - 20 will either qualify (ie: not be a single male renter, or a renting couple with no credit or jobs except retireed) or even condct teh damned survey.

the town is full of old peop,l who have no hearing. teh moment you say you're coonductiong a health analyisis they hang up, throw teh phone around teh room, or try and piss you off. hell, today i had one bitch (pardon teh language) actuially ask me if this was a legitimate company and try to call teh office afgter she hung up with me to see if we were areal company.

now, i know that being a telemarketer entails shovelling endless piles of BS, but this is just bloody ridiculus. at 10:30 AM i had someone today tell me they couldn't do a 30 second survey because they "were eating dinner". the aounty of condescending arses in that town is amazing. the only saving grace is that we'll be finished calling it in about a week, whereas it took us about 2 or 3 weeks to do Ajax.

thsi job leaves me dead all tehtime, needing coffee to live, and has managed to enforce my philosophical view that with exceptions, people are as a whole, and as an individual evil, maniacal, greedy bastards. nearly everybody either gets depressed or excited wheni mention teh free give away tehy get entered into for conducting the survey. the majority actually won't do teh survey unbtil i mention teh fucking giveaway.

so anyways, i guess teh moral to this rant is, if you live in Port Hope, either try to make telemarketeres a more welcome presence in your town, or jopin me in the killing spree next weekend. because rememrber, if your numbr is in teh phone book, i know where you live :mad:
and just generally be nicer to us telemarketeers, we are people to, we have daily quotas we have to meet, and we are merely doing our job.
and now, if you'll excuse me, i need to scream.

aww Port hope isn't that bad. I mean at least you don't live in the states where you can get every one of your calls blocked or whatever. i admit myself if it's not someone I know and they don't give me a quick response or say teh obvious 'Ms. Coulter' or 'mr. Waye' they get hung up on because in my house to ask for either of those is pure stupidity and means without a doubt all you did is look the phone number up in the phonebook.

I just say be lucky you never phone this place roady, cause my mom works nights ovre at lakeridge and is quite liable to tear a hole in anyone who phones here and wakes her up for no reason.

*shudders* anyway, why are you a telemarketer? I mean don't students like us end to end up working at fast food restaurants... wearing large stupid little ceaser costumes fighting with coworkers.... etc?

lol, as far as not calling you sets, we finished oshawa around amonth ago, so you don't need to worry about that.

Balmug: my company merely calls you to do a survey. three weeks later we call yu again saying "because you helped us with teh survey, we entered your name into our weekly giveaways, and tyou won a priiize pack worth $150, all yuo need to do is sit trhough a demo of our new product, the savioar 5000, an air purifier" then they send someone to your house with a couple different acages you chose which prize yu want, and they do teh demo. there are absoluely no strings attached, outside of a 20 minute demop. hell, if yuo wnated to you could sleep trhough it and you'd still get yuor prize.

as far as why am i a telemarketer, i have moral obligations to getting half price discionts on free cancer at a fast food store, and it pays much better. i make $8/hr. i usually havea check of $180 each week. and, yeah, i actually do wind up getting into fights, but because they're with people who are a)women and b)stronger than me i don't put up much of a fight, more just saying random bad things. i did some telemarketing in teh summer, and aside from teh BS its a relatively good job. yuo get to sit down all teh time, hang out with a bunch of people, have fun jokes, and make cracks at teh boss. however, teh BS is horrible.

rofl. basically, port hope is a town full of angry old people. trying to call there is liek calling a condo in florida at teh peak of snowbird season. there are no less than 8 retirement homes there for crying out loud! the port hope town motto taht was rejected for PR reasons was in my mind "Port hope: come here to grow old, bitter, and Die!" even teh young people there sound old o_0 and the old sound ancient.


and i was having a bad day at work, plus i hate some aspects of it, and i just had to rant and vent.

*snickers* hearing of others computer troubles helps me with mine though believe you me if roadys comp is anything like his typewriter 'rainbow' he prolly has an equally upsetting machine.

Although remember Patience is a virtue, trust me watching and taking care of little children helps, if it weren;t for my familial relations, family's friends and work with kindergarteners my patience would be non existant too.

[yup, you heard right roady, until 12 I had a zero tolerance policy towards people. I could sit with a book for hours on end but i couldn't stand dealing with stupid people for more then a matter of minutes]

as far as the Anna VS Rainbow debate... Anna is bloody pain in teh butt who happens to like gfiving me headaches. heck, once a month every month i lose my sound drivers for no apparent reason. And Rainbow, well, she's slow, -lodding, loud, but ever faithful. Anna is a high maintenance gall, and she'll smile for nearly anyone but me most days. heh, i have such great luck with women don't i?

PS: Anna = my computer. Rainbow = My manual typewriter. yes, i do have a problem wuth naming things.

Sets: its hard to imagine you with no patience, you're one of teh most patient people i know. heck, some days i wonder why it is taht you don't go crazy with some of us.

the sad thing is I can't because I don't have enough memory and am not allowed to delete what I havent already deleted because it is used all the time

what do yu mean haven't already deleted? yuo can upgrade to winxp with only affecting the C:\windows dir, no personal files will be hurt. and memorywise, i've seen a erson run xp flawlessly ona 750mhz CPU, 64mb RAM, teh only problem is that it takes 2GB to install.

Once a month every month? All women like to cause trouble once a month every month, though I doubt Anna has the same excuse. Personally, I adore Raven, even if she does crash a lot. In my house, all our computers are named (there are at least four in the house right now, and I'm almost positive there are more). When you do a lot of networking and stuff, you have to name them - it's either that or have to type in long binary numbers over and over again! By the way, RoadKill, do you have the same keyboard set-up (like qwerty) for Anna and Rainbow?

well, Anna doesn't exactly have teh same excuse, she just likes to be annoying every now and t5hen... and maybe my brother's messing around with her head without knowing what he's doing might help a tiuch too. as far as naming, yeah, everything needsa a aname, everything right now i only have Anna, though eventually i'm going to be getting another one, Lego Box. and yeah, Anna and Rainbvow are on teh same layout, however, Rainbows keys are much further spaced apart, and its a manual, which means if i accidentally hit a key, it won't walways make the stroke. i have to think more when i type on Rainbow, and yeah, i like typewriters.
