Ok, About 4 weeks ago on a Tuesday my 100 gig hard drive crashed. Now not only did it crash it was about to take everything I had on it with it! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! When it happened, I emailed 3 companies from work to see how much they charge for me to send my hard drive in and for them to recover the stuff. (The hard drive is still in windows and all), Minimum Quote was ... 700$!!!!! OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!!! No wonder they can make a freaking living out of it!!!

Thank god I had some people who had programs like EasyRecovery Pro to recover the data. I got about 75% of my stuff back. The only data I did loose was ALL MY GOD DAM FREAKING PROGRAMS!!! I'm talking about Illistrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Norton Anti-virus, DUMeter, Cuteftp, YOU NAME IT, I HAD IT! ALL GONE! ....

It look me about 2 days to figure out what I need to do, and about 15 straight hours of actally recovering the data. Now thats the the worst thing of all, After I got all the data off, The freaggin thing wouldn't format. Then I knew the hard drive was R.I.P.

I then went ahead and I checked out the warrentee status on my hard drive, YES! Still under warrentee! I sent them the hard drive the same day. 2 weeks later, I got an email from Western Digital saying they got the hard drive and it IS R.I.P. Last week, They email me once again ... They are sending me another hard drive, BUT the difference in the 2 hard drives is ... THIS one is a 120 gig!!! They didn't have any 100 gigs  , So they sent me the next size up. Woohoo! :D

Acording to the UPS tracking, It should be here today! Woot! So I paid 7$ and got 20 more gigs. How great did that turn out? If that drive was one of my anime drives, I would have shit my pants! Thank god it wasnt

It all the time I'v had computers, This is a very first hard drive that died on me. It wasn't because of the drive going totaly gone, It was because just all of a sudden I couldnt access the drive anymore. It turns out the FAT got currupt (File Allication Table) ... How, I will never know. All well, Its all over with, I got my new 120 in my computer (formatted), and all running smooth. Weeee =)

Yeah it was painful cause I was still on dialup back then and it took months and months to get 60 gig - now I can do it in one month ;)

teh problem with FAT is taht it becomes unstable past the 40 Gig threshold. if you are running anything other tahn win 98, you should use NTFS, it suppots pretty much anything up to teh 160 Threshold i belive, maybe more. however, if you are running 98, all yuo can do is reguilar mainentance. and crossing of fingers.
