Dont Worry Seig

I have been taking depression medication for a year now, and yet i am only just 16.

Back to subject... Those webpages are totally telling people what to think!!! God is not like that! Its is people like them who give Us (me anyway) christian people a stereotype of being over religious and never doing anything that is not in the bible.

(i hope that made sense)

Christianity is a very complex religion. It doesnt say that we cant watch anime/manga. I know anime can sometimes show disturbing images, but there is no need for them to tell us what to do, just because they are over religious.

It sounds strange, but even the arch-bishop of Canterbury (uk) wants pupils in school to know about "things that maybe seen as wrong" such as this. It is something to do with getting us closer to god. I dont know?

I hate it though when im told what to do by people i dont know!!!!!

I honestly dont understand religion. Try being atheist for a day, and just wonder what people are thinking worshipping some omnipresent being that supposedly presides over the whole of the earth. It cant be real, there's no way. I dont wanna turn this into a religous war or anything, but i cannot accept the fact that there is a god. A higher force sounds more likely, but it has to have defined boundaries unlike this "god". Also the people who wrote those threads of anti anime, they should be killed slowly and sacraficed to the higher power for trying to teach bullshit like that.

ps - dimari: i've actually started taking NINE pills a day. not all for depression though, theres one for my adhd. but then i have to take tylenol for hedaches i get from the lithium pills sometimes. i really wanna cut down on the # of pills i take. hm. Wow, thats quite an interesting articke there. Im a Christian, but I really don't agree with what they say, especially bout the kid committing suicide due to Eva. Persoanlly thats the parents fault for not caring enough bout their kid to find out whats wrong with him in the first place.

But I do agree that Eva does have some Judeo-Christian themes in it. But to call it one of Satans tools would be a bit extreme, techincally TV is one of Satans tools as well, why do they have that then. As for me Anime is just really good TV, it doesn't run my life by any means, my girlfreind does, hehehe

The only thing that I can say what I absolutely agree with Christians is that it can't be the number one priority in your life. I think most avid anime fans would agree on that one, you need to go outside once a month. In other words, have a life!!!!!!!

I say to those who say its against their religion, don't watch it then if its that much of a problem. Im not gonna sit here and bad mouth why they think so harshly of anime, to each their own.

Even though what a person thinks its absurd gotta respect their opinion for feeling the way they do, not everyone can agree on the same thing, thats waht makes us different and unique.

As for me, yea Im Christian, but im still gonna watch my anime.

lol thats a good way to look at it. i guess you cant really blame them for being total pricks. they probably live in hicktown, usa and hear their only news from the local church grapevine. sorry im so sour when it comes to religion but all my life my dad has been trying to force christianity on my brother and sister and me. i just dont think its fair, i mean, i have my own beliefs and i dont try and force my religion on him now do i??? i just dont like being influenced by overly-rreligious people. Unhappy Re: RIDICULOUS!!!!

I guess I should be happy that these people haven't heard about Serial Experiments: Lain yet...but I'm not.

The problem with them is that they see fictional media that is not strictly based on a Christian theology and adheres to it perfectly as being propaganda for Satan. Thing is, that tosses out 99% of all fictional media, including the classics (bye, Charlie Dickens; don't let the door hit you Mary Shelly; see you never, Alexander Dumas).

If those people have their way, no one would read anything but the fictional works based on the Bible.

I'll be the first to admit that I am a Christian and an otaku. I'll also readily admit that those people have as much right to their opinion and to running their own lives and rearing their children as they see fit, same as anyone else.
...That being said, I have to feel sorry for them. They're isolating themselves from the greaters works out there, confining themselves to the Bible and the news. Is there any wonder at all why such people are so miserable so much of the time and so often in what they say and write?
Fiction is suposed to be vicarious, even cathartic at times. It's supposed to be a way for us to escape the problems and concerns of the real world when they become too much. God gave us creativity, after all. And I've read the Bible and use 4 different translations when I study Biblical text so that I can get a more definite impression of what the original writer was saying in his words...so I can say without qualifier or hesitation that nowhere in the Bible does God tell man that man is prohibited from being creative. He has some prohibitions on how to use said creativity...
...but their blanket condemnation of 99% of all fictional media is their condemnation, not God's condemnation.

Of course, I could go into a detailed discussion on how their condemnation is about style and not substance, how they condemn the trappings of a story without giving any weight to the story itself...but I think everyone can tell just how intellectually shallow they already are.
After all, anyone can condemn any work of fiction for not fitting some arbitrary standard. It takes a lot of thought to explain one's personal objections to a work of fiction, however. And if you ever go to a regular comics shop or comics convention and just talk to the people there, you'll be able to find plenty of people who use arbitrary standards...and, sadly, few who can explain personal objections against comics they don't like.

By that same token flipped on its other side, there are very few people who can explain their own personal preferences. Most prefer using, again, arbitrary standards.
Nothing wrong with arbitrary standards...as long as one using an arbitrary standard realizes he's not really thinking about what he likes and dislikes and why he has these opinions.
The people making the website listed in the threadfoundation think that using the Bible as an arbitrary standard somehow absolves them of the responsibility to think for themselves. It doesn't, and it places them right alongside most of the people to whom they see themselves as witnessing the Good Word. They can't see that they're no different from their would-be converts...and that's why I can't be happy with their website.

It's not that their views make me angry. It's that their views sound so much like the views concerning fictional media that I have heard from so many people...that it saddens me to see fellow Christians fall into the trap of not developing their own personalities...not developing their own souls.

There's enough generic people in the world. Too many, in my view. Contrary to the claim of the TV show, "Every life is not a biography"; most are generic tales that could be put on a 2-page pamphlet and still have half-a page left blank. I know I'm rambling in my rant. but my point is that our opinions are part of who we are. If we really don't know what we like and what we dislike so that we can explain it to others why we like what we like and we dislike what we dislike...then how can we say that we are people, that we are individuals, that we are a "we" in the first place?
Our views are a part of us...and those lacking this part...lack what define them as unique individuals. And it saddens me to see a website devoted to this lack.
